I’m eyeing an Eletre but can’t decide if I should go for the highway assist and parking pack just yet. Any chance I can add these later, either through the dealer or an OTA update? Has anyone pulled this off before?

The park assist system doesn't seem to be helpful at this time, and neither package is worth the cost due to their current unreliability. Let's just hope they'll add this next time.

I’d say it’s worth asking your dealer directly. Lotus tends to design their cars with future updates in mind, but some advanced systems like parking packs may rely on hardware that needs to be factory-installed. Highway Assist, though? That feels like something they could unlock later if the base car already has the necessary tech.

Looks like both features depend on cameras, and from what I’m seeing, most cars come with LIDAR kit, even if you didn’t ask for it. In theory, these could be enabled through an OTA update, but I haven’t spotted any options to add them later through the apps or portals. It’s probably best to double-check with your dealer to be sure.

Deciding on optional packs for the Eletre is tricky. Software based features like highway assist could potentially be added later via OTA updates but there's no certainty. Hardware-based features like the parking pack are almost definitely factory-installed. If you anticipate needing those features it's safer to include them at purchase as hardware retrofits are improbable.

Those option packs like highway assist and parking are generally factory-installed due to their reliance on specific hardware and software that's difficult to retrofit later. While software updates can refine existing features they can't create new hardware. If there's any chance you'll want them it's best to include them during the initial purchase to avoid future regret.
