EV Design: Form Over Function?

Seriously, what's up with EV design? It's like they're trying to see how many sharp angles they can cram into one car. Take the Eletre – this thing is a giant but has less cargo space than a freaking Escape! I mean, we get it, EVs are different, but do they have to look like angry robots? Tesla started this weird trend, and now every other car looks like a copycat. I swear, I can draw a better looking car with a crayon.
 
I'm quite disappointed by the current trend of overly angular EV designs. These vehicles prioritize appearance over functionality, as evidenced by the Eletre's limited cargo capacity. It seems that designers are competing to create the most aggressive-looking vehicle, rather than prioritizing user-friendly features.
 
While I'm not overly concerned with aesthetics, I'm worried about the potential government mandate forcing us to adopt EVs, regardless of their suitability for specific needs.

My long-distance commutes of 300-400 miles between charging stations and my desire to tow my Elise to the track are incompatible with current EV capabilities. Even powerful EVs like the Model X require frequent charging while towing, significantly hindering long-distance travel.

Agree! It’s like car designers are all about that futuristic looks over practicality. The sharp angles and bold designs can look cool, but sometimes they just don’t make sense especially when it comes to space. A design that’s both stylish and practical would be perfect!

Come on, man! The design is awesome. I mean, have you seen that HUD? Cars are like women and food. Tastes should not be discussed.
 
Honestly, I wasn't a believer in EVs until I drove the Taycan. That thing was a blast! But the Eletre? Forget about it. It's basically a Taycan on steroids. The instant power is insane, and it handles like a dream. Sure, I'll miss the roar of a proper engine, but this thing is seriously addictive. I might be in trouble...
 
The SUVs are developed at the Lotus Tech Creative Centre in Warwickshire, UK, which used to be the Geely Design Studio. Most if not all of the team are likely former Geely employees now working for Lotus
